Why should Christians seek the things that are above?
Christians should seek things above because they have been risen with Christ and are now in Him, not in Adam. Since Christ is seated at God's right hand, believers are to set their affection on things above, not on earthly things, having a new mental attitude.
Les explains that when Christ died on the cross, every believer is taken out of Adam and placed in Christ. Because of that, God no longer sees the believer in the cesspool of sin but sees only the righteousness and holiness of Christ. So, having been risen with Christ, the believer is to seek those things which are above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God. Les points out that Christ is not on the throne tonight; He is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will sit on His throne when He returns to set up His kingdom. Therefore Paul says to set affection on things above, not on things on the earth. This requires a whole new mental attitude, and Les begins to note that this is what has happened to the Christian movement or the Christian community today.
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
