What has to happen for someone to be saved from the deadness of sin?
A person must realize they are trapped in sin's slave market, with no hope of escape. Only the power of God can pull them out of that deadness, give new life, set their feet on a rock, forgive, sanctify, and glorify them. This happens through believing, not by works.
Les explains that when an individual realizes he is in the cesspool of sin and in the old slave market, there is no hope of getting out unless the power of God takes him out. God pulls him out of that deadness in sin, gives him new life, sets his feet on a rock, forgives him, sanctifies him, and glorifies him. Les says that is what believing does. The believer then becomes a totally different person in outlook and desires, and he does not work for that; it comes. Les also compares the Christian life to physical life: a new believer is a babe in Christ who needs tender care, nourishment, protection, and growth in grace, knowledge, and wisdom. Salvation is the power of God unto salvation, saving from eternal doom, and it is also a lifestyle.
