What does the Bible mean by 'saint'?
A saint is not a sinless person with a halo, but merely someone who has believed what God has promised. By God's act of imputation, not by works or personal merit, God puts His righteousness on that believer because of faith in what He has said; that is what it means to be a saint.
Les teaches that a saint is not someone who walks around with a halo or is of sinless perfection; far from it. Instead, a saint is merely someone who has believed what God has promised. By God's imputation—not by anything we have worked for or deserve—God has imputed His righteousness to us simply because we believed. It is not because we have worked or done this or that, but strictly because of faith in what He has said. God does this all on our behalf, and Les mentions looking at this more in depth in the Book of Romans. He stresses that we deserve none of it, but God has put it on us and inundated us with everything He accomplished on our behalf. That is what it means to be a saint.
