What did the Reformers want to do with the Bible?
The Reformers wanted to completely change the fact that the Word of God was locked up in monasteries and inaccessible to the common man. They sought to put Scripture in the hands of every plow boy in England, making it available to everyone in every status of society, not just the highly educated or intellectual.
Les teaches that during the Dark Ages the Word of God was locked up in the monasteries, and the common man never had access to it. That is what the Reformers wanted to completely change. They wanted the Word of God, as one gentleman put it, in the hands of every plow boy in England. The book isn't meant just for the highly educated or the intellectual; it's for everyone in every status of society. Les also says his own goal is to bring it to the level of even young children while still getting deep enough that people can honestly say they never realized it before.
