What did Paul do at the start of his sermon in Acts 13?

At the start of his sermon in Acts 13, Paul rehearsed the history of the Jewish nation, beginning with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, just as Stephen had done in Acts 7. He traced God’s promises through the patriarchs and prophets to Christ.

Les explains that Paul, like Stephen in Acts 7, is going to rehearse the whole history of the Jewish nation, beginning with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Les notes that he does not take all of it verse by verse, but highlights the doctrine of the only begotten Son of God. Coming to Acts 13:30, after Christ’s earthly ministry and crucifixion, the promises trace back to Genesis 12, repeated to Isaac, Jacob, and the twelve sons, and the prophets spoke of His first coming.
