What did God promise Christ about the believers who would come through His death and resurrection?

God promised Christ that as a result of His going to the Roman cross, dying, shedding His blood, and being raised from the dead, a multitude of believers would be brought in. This multitude was promised to Him from the very beginning as His own.

Les explains that God promised Christ that His work on the Roman cross—dying, shedding His blood, and being raised from the dead—would bring in this multitude of believers. They were promised to Him from the very beginning. In Galatians 4, Paul connects this to Isaac, saying, “as Isaac was, we are the children of promise.” The surrounding context also contrasts this promised line with the flesh-versus-Spirit conflict pictured by Ishmael and Isaac, showing that believers are the promised fruit of Christ’s redemptive work.
