Was Peter's sheet vision about food or about people?

The vision was ultimately about people, not merely food. God used the sheet with clean and unclean animals to show Peter he should not call any man common or unclean. Peter realized the message concerned the human race, opening the way for Gentiles.

Les explains that Peter's vision of the sheet with clean and unclean animals was not just about eating food; it was about the human race. Peter said it was unlawful for a Jew to keep company with or come unto one of another nation, but God showed him that he should not call any man common or unclean. Peter got the point: the vision concerned people, not merely food. This fit the opening of the gates to Gentiles, as the apostle of the Gentiles had been saved in chapter 9, and the outreach would widen in chapter 11 and then through Paul and Barnabas in chapter 13. Peter had never eaten anything common or unclean because he was a law keeper, and he was uncomfortable going into Cornelius's house because it was unlawful for a Jew to enter a Gentile's house.

Acts 10:28

And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
