What did Peter say in Acts 15 to defend Paul?

Peter defended Paul by declaring, 'Brethren, you know that a long while ago, God, by my mouth, took the Gospel to the Gentiles.' He reminded the Jewish leadership that God had already used him to bring the Gospel to Gentiles, and that testimony spared Paul's ministry.

Les explains that this defense came 12 years after Peter's experience at the house of Cornelius. In Acts 15, when Paul was called on the carpet by the Jewish leadership for going to Gentiles, and after a lot of disputation and arguing that Paul was wrong and a heretic, Peter came to his defense. Peter said, 'Brethren, you know that a long while ago, God, by my mouth, took the Gospel to the Gentiles.' Les notes that this is what spared Paul's ministry.
