Les Feldick Bible Study

Are Paul's letters still being twisted today?

Yes. Paul's letters are still being twisted today. As Peter wrote, the unlearned and unstable twist them, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. Peter pointed people to Paul's epistles for salvation rather than back to the Gospels, Christ's earthly ministry, Pentecost, or his message to Israel.

Les explains that Peter acknowledged Paul's letters contain things hard to be understood, and that the unlearned and unstable twist them, just as they twist the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. When Peter asks if they are doing it, the answer is emphatic: "You better believe it." Les emphasizes that they are still twisting the Scriptures today. Peter's point, according to Les, is that for salvation now one should not go back to the Gospels, Christ's earthly ministry, Pentecost, or what Peter told Israel, but to Paul's epistles, where salvation is found.

2 Peter 3:16
