Is the city of Antioch the headquarters of the New Testament Church?
No. Antioch served more or less as the fountainhead from which the Gospel went out to the Gentiles, but Scripture never designates Antioch as the headquarters of the New Testament Church. The New Testament Church has no earthly headquarters; it is headquartered in heaven.
Les explains that all through Israel’s religious history, Jerusalem was the headquarters of God’s operation. But for the New Testament Church, there is no earthly headquarters. The Church today is headquartered not on earth but in heaven. Even though Antioch was more or less the fountainhead of where the Gospel went out to the Gentiles from the Antioch congregation, Scripture never places Antioch as the headquarters of the New Testament Church, nor is Jerusalem. There is no headquarters of the New Testament Church.
