How does Les think a Christian should deal with demon possession?
A Christian should not pursue exorcism, because Paul never gives Grace Age believers instructions for demon possession. The recommended approach is to present the Gospel so the person can be genuinely born again, which should take care of the demon possession.
Les explains that he is not comfortable with exorcism or casting out demons because the Apostle Paul never once gives the Grace Age believer any instructions in dealing with demon possession. He says the only way he is content about dealing with it is that the person probably needs salvation. If we can present them with the Gospel and see them genuinely born again, then that will take care of their demon possession. He notes he does not set these things in concrete and if someone thinks he is wrong, that is their privilege. He contrasts this with the Samaritans who had the same power Jesus had in His earthly ministry, where unclean spirits came out of many possessed, and there was great joy in the city, though the devil brings a flip side whenever things go well.
