Where did the believers scattered by Stephen's persecution travel?
According to Acts 11:19, those scattered by the persecution around Stephen traveled as far as Phenis, the island of Cyprus, and Antioch in Syria. They preached to Jews only, not Gentiles, and did not go to Egypt or Greece.
Les explains that the believers were all scattered out of Jerusalem because of the persecution. Acts 11:19 says those scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose around Stephen traveled as far as Phenis, the island of Cyprus, and Antioch, which is up in Syria. They went preaching the word to none but Jew only—not Gentiles, not Egypt, not Greece. Les points out this was seven years after Pentecost, and since the New Testament had not been written, they preached the Old Testament, using it to prove that the One Israel crucified was the Christ. That message had not changed. He then returns to Acts 8:2 regarding Stephen's burial and Saul coming into the scene.
Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.
