Why did Joseph invite Jacob and the rest of the family to Egypt?

Joseph was in Egypt with all kinds of food and grain stored up during a famine covering that whole part of the world. The sons had gone down to get grain, and Joseph invited Jacob and the rest of the family to come down and take part in the food and everything supplied.

Les explains that Joseph was already down in Egypt and had all kinds of food and grain stored up during the famine that covered that whole part of the world. The sons had been down to get grain, and it was found out that Joseph was there. Joseph then invited Jacob and the rest of the family to come down into Egypt and take part in all the food and everything that had been supplied. Les also points out that God later told Jacob not to fear going down into Egypt, because there God would make of him a great nation, showing where Israel began to multiply.
