Why can a Christian be content with little in this world?
A Christian can be content with little because this present life is brief and not the believer's ultimate hope. God has prepared unimaginable things for those who love Him, and the best is yet to come. Earthly estates at their finest cannot compare with the eternal ages awaiting believers.
Les explains that the world has only about seventy years on average, and that is their heaven. But believers have ages upon ages ahead of them, and it will make this old world at its best look like a smelly pig pen. He says the most beautiful estate on this planet is, by comparison, just a smelly old pig pen. Scripture says things are awaiting us that we cannot even imagine: “Eye hath not seen, ear hath not heard the things that God has prepared for them that love Him.” So Les says he does not really care if we go through this life of seventy years without much, because he does not need it; all the best is yet to come, not just for him but for you and for everyone that believes.
