Why did the early believers gladly bring all their money to the apostles?
They expected the Kingdom was about to be set up, where there would be no poverty and everyone would have everything. So they sold property and brought the cash to the apostles, believing more preaching would bring more Jews to faith and hasten the King's arrival.
Les explains that these early believers were approaching the Kingdom, looking just over the horizon according to the Old Testament program: after Messiah's rejection would come wrath and vexation, then the King. Because the Kingdom would have no poverty and everyone would have everything, they were not worried about keeping houses and lands. They gladly brought money to the apostles' feet so the apostles could preach the Kingdom, more Jews would believe, and the King would come faster. Les notes they did not know it would come to nothing, and later Jerusalem had many poor believers because they had sold everything and the kitty ran dry.
