Les Feldick Bible Study

Why does every believer have a distinct purpose?

Every believer has a distinct purpose because God saved and called them according to His own purpose, not their works. They were already in God's mind before Adam was created, so each one is saved for a specific reason and calling.

Les explains that the earlier passage says we obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who works all things after the counsel of His own will. Then in 2 Timothy 1:9, Paul writes that God saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose. Les emphasizes that our merit means nothing; the call goes out to every son of Adam. If you are a child of God, it is because it was in the purpose of God. You were saved for a purpose and a reason—every one of us. Les teaches that we were already in the mind of God before He ever created Adam, and so we have a distinct purpose.

2 Timothy 1:9
