According to Deuteronomy 32:8, how did God set the boundaries of the nations?

Deuteronomy 32:8 states that when the Most High divided the nations their inheritance and separated the sons of Adam, He set the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the children of Israel. This places Israel at the core of the whole human experience.

Les explains that Deuteronomy 32:8 says, “When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when He separated the sons of Adam, He set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.” He emphasizes that God set the bounds of all the other nations by the number of Israel’s children, showing that Israel is at the very core of the whole human experience. Though God had been dealing with Israel, He had not forgotten the Gentiles; Scripture ties everything to Israel. Even today, tiny Israel remains central in world attention.
