What is the Gospel according to First Corinthians 15?

According to First Corinthians 15, the Gospel is the message Paul delivered as first of all what he also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. That finished work of the cross is the Gospel, distinct from the earlier message that only accused Israel of killing Him.

Les explains that when he says “the Gospel today,” he means First Corinthians 15:1-4, where Paul says he delivered first of all what he also received—that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. Les points out that in the setting described, there is nothing yet indicating these people believed that Gospel; they were not told Christ died for them, but rather “you killed Him.” He contrasts that with the finished work of the cross, by which God could save people based on the shed blood. Les stresses the total difference between that earlier message and the Gospel Paul later defines.
