According to Galatians 1, why did Jesus give Himself for our sins?
Our Lord Jesus Christ gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from this present evil world according to the will of God and our Father. The deliverance is entirely His work, not our own; He would deliver us, not we ourselves.
Les explains that in Galatians 1, grace and peace come from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from this present evil world according to the will of God and our Father. Les stresses that He would deliver us, not we ourselves. He contrasts Paul's doctrine with Peter's preaching: Peter said 'You killed Him,' while Paul's theme is that God commended His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, as Romans says. Les says the difference is as daylight and dark, and Peter's sermon doesn't fit Paul's doctrine because God hadn't yet revealed Paul's message; it was still a secret kept in the mind of God.
Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
