In Zechariah 14:9, is the Lord king over all the earth or over heaven?
Zechariah 14:9 declares the Lord shall be king over all the earth, not over heaven. The text corrects the misreading "over all of heaven" and emphasizes "all the earth." This points to His earthly kingdom, where a king necessarily has a kingdom.
Les teaches from Zechariah 14 that after the graphic description of the tribulation and the battle of Armageddon, verse 9 must be read carefully. He corrects the idea that the Lord Jehovah, the Christ, the Messiah, shall be king over all of heaven, saying that is not what the Bible says. Instead, the Lord will be king over all the earth. Les then reasons that if there is a king, there must naturally be a kingdom, and that kingdom is the earthly Kingdom that follows the tribulation. This is the Kingdom that the earlier passage described as coming on the third day, when they shall live in His sight.
And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.
