Why did God become visible in Christ?

God became visible in Christ because humanity, prone to idolatry, wanted a God it could see and touch. By manifesting Himself in flesh as the image of God, He removed that excuse, providing a visible, bodily witness—including resurrection appearances—so people could worship Him.

Les explains that the lost are blinded by the God of this world, and Christ is the image of God—the likeness that can be seen and touched. He points to the world's idolatry as evidence people want a visible God they can put on a shelf, touch, worship, even set food before. God knew this, so He permitted Himself to become visible, manifested in the flesh, so man could no longer claim he cannot worship an invisible God. Les notes many saw Him, including over 400 at once in His resurrection body, ample proof He arose bodily and is the same God who created us, went to the cross, purchased redemption, arose, ascended, and is coming again.
