Why did God become visible in the flesh?

Mankind, prone to idolatry, demanded a God it could see and touch, so God permitted Himself to be manifested in flesh. This removed any excuse that an invisible God could not be worshipped and provided visible witnesses of Christ's bodily resurrection and redemption.

Les explains that the lost have their minds blinded by the god of this world, so the gospel is hidden to them. Christ is the image of God—the likeness that can be seen and touched. Much of the world has always been in idolatry because people want a God they can see, touch, and worship. God knew that and permitted Himself to become visible, manifested in the flesh, so man could no longer say, "I can't worship an invisible God; I have to have a God I can see." Les points out that we do have a God men have seen; a whole generation, thousands, saw Him, and Paul says over 400 at one time saw Him in His resurrection body. That gives ample proof He arose bodily, that He is the same God who created us, went to the cross, and purchased our redemption. He did not stay dead; He arose, ascended, and is coming again.
