Where does the eighth 'I AM' statement appear in the New Testament?

The eighth "I AM" statement appears in Revelation chapter 22, verse 16. There Jesus declares, "I AM the root and the offspring of David, the bright morning star." It follows the seven "I AM" statements in John's Gospel and points to the eternal state and new beginnings.

Les explains that the eighth "I AM" should be tied with the seventh, taking us back to Revelation chapter 22. After the seven "I AM" statements of John's Gospel have accomplished what they were given for, we now enter into the eternal state in Revelation chapter 22. In chapter 22, verse 16, Jesus says, "I have sent My angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I AM the root, the offspring of David, the bright morning star." Les notes that the morning star shines brightest in the heavens just before the dawn of the new day. This shows that all of human history, including the 6,000 years of darkness under the curse, is about to end, and the dawning of the new day, the eternal day, is at hand. The number eight in Scripture is always indicative of new beginnings, and this eighth "I AM" is explanatory of the whole program from start to finish.

Revelation 22:16

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
