Who alone can bring true joy to Israel?

Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah, is the only One who can bring true joy to the nation of Israel. The sign at Cana showed Israel had lost its national joy, and their religion left them destitute; only the Lord as Messiah could fill them brimful with joy.

Les explains that the wedding feast had run out of joy, illustrating Israel's condition. Israel had no hope, had lost their national joy, and their religion had only bogged them down; they were miserable and destitute of joy. Jesus then performs a miraculous sign by having the pots filled with water. Les teaches that this sign was given to the nation of Israel to show that He, as their Messiah, is the only One who can bring true joy to the nation. When He brings joy, it is not half-hearted, not 75%, but brimful. This is still in Israel's future; they never attained this joy or the fullness of all His promises because they kept rejecting it. The sign to the nation was that He, the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, was the only One who could fill their pots with joy. Verse 11 notes this beginning of miracles in Cana of Galilee manifested His glory, and His disciples believed on Him.
