Les Feldick Bible Study

What happened while Jesus was on the cross from noon until 3 PM?

From noon until 3 PM, darkness and total silence covered the cross, with no words spoken. Jesus remained alive, and the scapegoat imagery suggests that in soul and spirit He stepped out of time into eternity to suffer punishment for all mankind's sin.

Les explains that between noon and 3 PM there was darkness, total silence, and not a word from the cross. He notes Jesus was still alive during that time and suggests He became the scapegoat, which was sent into the wilderness. Les offers his personal thought that in those three hours, as the body hung on the cross, Jesus stepped out of time; in soul and spirit He stepped into eternity and suffered the punishment for all mankind's sin. He acknowledges he may be wrong but presents it as food for thought.

Matthew 27:45

Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
