When did Peter and John first believe and understand the Scriptures about Jesus' resurrection?

Peter and John first believed and understood the Scriptures about Jesus’ resurrection on resurrection morning, after Mary Magdalene found the empty tomb and told them. They ran to the sepulcher, saw the tomb was empty, and saw evidence He must have supernaturally been raised from the dead, as John 20:9 records.

Les teaches that this happened on resurrection morning. Mary Magdalene went to the tomb, was aghast that it was empty, and quickly ran to tell Peter and John, who evidently had spent the night not too far away. Both ran to the sepulcher. When they saw the tomb was empty, they saw the evidence that He must have supernaturally been raised from the dead; then, for the first time, they believed and understood the Scriptures. Les points to John’s Gospel, chapter 20, verse 9, for this account.

John 20:9

For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
