What was the last picture his followers saw of Jesus on the cross?

The last picture His followers had of Jesus on the cross was a visage and form so marred and distorted that He was more disfigured than any man or sons of men, almost not looking human, as Isaiah 52:14 describes. This resulted from physical abuse and the sin of mankind laid on Him.

Les teaches that Isaiah 52:14 describes the last picture Jesus' followers saw of Him as He hung on the cross: His visage was so marred and distorted, and His form more marred, than any man or the sons of men had ever experienced. Les explains this was not only from physical abuse at the hands of the Romans and the crowd, but also spiritual, because God was laying on Him all the sin of mankind. The result was total disfigurement, almost to the point of not looking human. Les says to remember this when Martha later sees Him standing and thinks He is the gardener.
