What does 'wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together' mean?

The phrase depicts the cleanup after the carnage of Armageddon: when the tribulation storm is past, the eagles gather wherever the carcass is. It follows the tribulation, not the silent Rapture, and points to survivors seeing the sign of the Son of Man.

Les explains that Jesus used a weather analogy His audience understood: lightning in the east means the storm has passed. The storm He refers to is the tribulation, so when it is over, the statement about the carcass and eagles applies. Les teaches this is the cleanup after all the carnage of Armageddon and the other events that have taken place. It comes right before verse 29, where immediately after the tribulation the sun is darkened, the moon does not give light, stars fall, the powers of heaven are shaken, and the sign of the Son of Man appears. Les contrasts this with the Rapture, which he says will be silent and unknown to the world, whereas at the Second Coming there will be survivors who see these things.
