What happens to the Antichrist's army when they pursue the Jewish remnant in Revelation 12?
The Antichrist sends an armed force to destroy the escaping Jewish remnant, described symbolically as a flood from his mouth. God opens the earth, and it swallows the pursuing army, burying every one of them, while Israel escapes untouched into her place of safety.
Les teaches that Revelation 12's pursuit of the Jewish remnant is a perfect analogy to Israel's Exodus from Egypt. As word reaches the Antichrist, he commands an armed force to destroy the escaping Jews. Scripture calls this command a "flood" from his mouth, but Les explains it is symbolic language for the order to destroy them. Just as the Red Sea covered Pharaoh's army and chariots, God acts in like manner here, except He uses the earth rather than water. Because earthquakes occur at that time, the earth opens its mouth and swallows the flood—the armed force, regiment or whatever—that is pursuing the Jews. The earth thus helps the woman, the escaping remnant. The Antichrist's army is buried, while Israel goes on untouched into her place of safety.
