Who is told to flee to the mountains at the midpoint of the Tribulation?
At the midpoint of the Tribulation, the Jews in Judea—the area around Jerusalem and southern Israel—are told to flee to the mountains. This group is not the 144,000 but a cross section of society, including men, women, young women, and children escaping Jerusalem.
Les explains that Jesus says, even though it is 2,000 years down the road, “let them who be in Judea” flee to the mountains. Time is of the essence, so those on the housetop must not come down to take anything from the house, and the worker in the field must not return for clothes. This is an analogy to the escape out of Egypt; just as God protected and provided for the Jews in the wilderness, He will protect and provide for these escaping Jews coming out of the environs of Jerusalem at the midpoint of the Tribulation. This is not the 144,000 but a cross section of any society—men, women, young women, and children fleeing Jerusalem.
