Who are the people that shall come and destroy the sanctuary?

Les teaches that the people who shall come and destroy the sanctuary are Rome, specifically the Roman Empire. He explains that out of that same people—the Roman Empire—will come the man who becomes the world ruler at the end. Les connects this to the revived Roman Empire, which he says we are seeing in Europe, and to the prophecy that this ruler will confirm a covenant with many, that is Israel, for seven years. He also disagrees with prophetic preachers who claimed a recent peace treaty was that covenant, pointing out that there is no peace in Israel and that no peace treaty has been signed yet.
