What is the earth going to be delivered from during the events Jesus describes?
The earth is going to be delivered from the curse. The events described are the beginning of sorrows, or travail and earth pangs, indicating the earth is approaching the day of her delivery, just as a child is delivered from its mother. These phenomena are not the end but the beginning.
Les explains that the various phenomena happening on earth are just the beginning, not the end. He says they are the beginning of sorrows, and a better word is travail or earth pangs. This language pictures a child being delivered from its mother, showing the earth is now approaching the day of her delivery. Les connects this to the earth being delivered of the curse.
Matthew 24:8
All these are the beginning of sorrows.
