What is the longsuffering of the Lord in 2 Peter 3:15?
The longsuffering of the Lord in 2 Peter 3:15 is salvation. God's patience is His saving purpose, extending time for lost humanity to come to a knowledge of salvation, because He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to salvation. That is the whole purpose of this Book.
Les teaches that the longsuffering, or patience, of our Lord is salvation. He explains that from cover to cover, the whole purpose of this Book is to bring lost humanity to a knowledge of salvation. God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to a knowledge of salvation. Peter is therefore reiterating that the whole scope of God's patience is to bring the man that is lost to a place of salvation. The context also notes that Peter writes by inspiration of the same Spirit, saying, “so the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation.”
