What did the Canaanite woman acknowledge about Jesus that the Jews refused to acknowledge?

She acknowledged that the Nazarene, Jesus, was the son of David. The Jews could not condescend to acknowledge Him as the son of David, but this Canaanite woman did. He responded by commending her faith, saying, 'Woman, great is thy faith.'

Les explains that the Canaanite woman came and said, 'Lord, yet the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table.' He notes that the word 'woman' as Jesus addressed her was not degrading; in the Greek it was a term of respect. Jesus said, 'Woman, great is thy faith.' In contrast to the Jew, she acknowledged that this Nazarene was the son of David, while the Jews could not condescend to acknowledge Him as such. Les also points out that she is one of only two Gentiles Jesus ministers to in His whole earthly ministry, along with a Roman centurion; other than that, there is no account He had anything to do with Gentiles.
