What does the book of Galatians prove about the Law and grace?

Galatians proves that under grace the Law has no power over us. Being not under Law but under grace does not give license to sin; rather, it places believers under a wholly different set of circumstances. The contrast is Law versus grace, and sinning because we are under grace is forbidden.

Les explains that the whole book of Galatians is written to prove that under Grace the Law has no power over us. He stresses this does not give license to sin, because we are under a whole different set of circumstances. He contrasts Legalism, or Law, with Grace, saying few people can comprehend the difference. To illustrate the Law, he mentions a released hostage who said he had to forgive others or he would never be forgiven by God; Les calls that sad, noting it sounds good but is what the Law demanded. Grace, by contrast, means we are not under Law but under Grace, and God forbid that we should sin because of it.
