What does Isaiah 60 teach about darkness and the Gentiles coming to God's light?

The passage declares that darkness and gross spiritual darkness cover the earth and its people, yet the LORD arises upon His people and His glory is seen. Despite that darkness, the Gentiles shall come to His light, and that light is Jesus.

Les teaches from Isaiah 60:1 that the glory of the LORD is risen upon His people. He then reads that darkness shall cover the earth and gross darkness the people, but in spite of that spiritual darkness the LORD shall arise upon thee, His glory shall be seen upon thee, and the Gentiles shall come to thy light. Les asks who the light is and answers that it is Jesus. In the surrounding context, he also notes that salvation extends to the ends of the earth even though Israel rejected it, and that Jesus preached repentance because the kingdom of heaven was at hand, the same message John the Baptist began, since He was the King ready to set up the kingdom in fulfillment of the Old Testament covenants.
