Where does a fetus's blood come from?

A fetus’s blood comes from the father, not the mother. The mother’s blood never enters the fetus; her blood has nothing to do with it. The entire blood system of the fetus comes from the father. This physiological fact underlies the doctrine of the virgin birth and Christ’s divine, untainted, incorruptible blood.

Les explains that the mother’s blood never goes into the fetus or baby, so the mother’s blood has nothing to do with the fetus. He says this comes only from the Father, and the whole blood system of the fetus comes from the Father, not the mother. He notes this is a physiological fact, even illustrating it with cattle breeding where the mother’s blood never enters the calf. Les ties this to the virgin birth: because Jesus had no human father, He did not have human blood but divine, untainted, incorruptible blood. Had Mary’s blood interchanged with the fetus, that would not have been true. Therefore the virgin birth is basic to salvation.
