Why did God always return to Israel despite their rejection of Him?
God continually returned to Israel because of His grace, not their merit. Scripture says where sin abounded, grace did much more abound. Even when Israel rejected Jehovah to the depths, divine grace reached beyond their rebellion, just as God sought Adam and Eve after their disobedience.
Les explains that Israel repeatedly turned their back on Jehovah and rejected Him to the very depths, yet God always went back to them because of His grace. He connects this to Romans 5:20, where sin abounded, grace did much more abound. God's grace has always been evident, even though we are not under the program of grace. When Adam sinned, Adam and Eve did not go running looking for God; God went looking for them and brought them back into a relationship with Himself. In the same way, the four women in the genealogy were in direct opposition to everything God had instructed, yet in His mercy and grace He brought them into a place of renown by being in the genealogy.
