In what way was Abraham's obedience to God's call not complete?

Abraham obeyed God's call to leave Ur, but his obedience was incomplete because he did not fully separate from his family as instructed. God had said to leave his father's house and kindred, yet Abraham took his father and his nephew Lot with him.

Les explains that God told Abram to leave his country, his father's house, and his kindred, and go to a land that God would show him, without telling him where he was going. Abram, a man of faith, took God at His Word, did not ask questions, and did not ask for a map or a deed at that point. However, Les points out that Abram was not totally obedient because he took his father and his nephew Lot with him, rather than leaving his relatives behind as God had instructed. Les notes that God could not let that situation continue for very long. This illustrates that biblical men were not superhuman or sinless, but they failed and were not always right on the mark.
