Where does the New Jerusalem come from?
According to the context, the New Jerusalem comes down from God out of heaven. John saw the holy city descending, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. It is God's eternal abode, ready to come down after the first heaven and earth pass away.
Les teaches that after the first heaven and first earth pass away, and are melded down with fervent heat as Peter described, John saw the holy city, the New Jerusalem. It is coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Les connects this to John 14, where Jesus said He goes to prepare a place, suggesting God has a glorious abode prepared for us to enjoy for all eternity. He notes it is ready to come down and that God has a thousand years to work on it if needed. The glorious part of this city is that the tabernacle of God is with men.
