Will the solar system be destroyed along with the earth, or just the earth?

Scripture declares the heavens will pass away with great noise, elements melt with fervent heat, and the earth and its works be burned up completely. The speaker sees no room for even the core remaining, and suggests the earth, and maybe our solar system, may be involved, though not the whole universe.

Les teaches from Peter's wording that the heavens will pass away with a great noise, the elements will melt with fervent heat, and the earth and the works therein will be burned up completely. He sees no room in that language for leaving even the core. Then, asking what "all these things" means, he wonders whether it includes everything that makes up the planet and maybe even our solar system. He says he does not know and will not go so far as to say the whole universe will come under this; he does not believe that. But he thinks the earth, and maybe our solar system, may be involved, noting that the solar system is only a pinpoint in outer space.
