Where do lost people go when they die today?

The lost from all ages, including today, still go down into hell, into the torment side of that place. This is the side of the great gulf fixed that Abraham described, opposite paradise, where the righteous dead awaited Christ's atoning work.

Les explains that Hades, or hell, is a place with a great gulf fixed. On one side is torment, and on the other side is paradise. Before the cross, all the believers of the Old Testament could not go to heaven; they had to go down to paradise because the atoning blood of Christ is the only thing that would remove the stain of sin, and animal blood could not take it away. The lost from all the ages, including today, are still going down into hell, but into the torment side. Christ spoke of being in the centermost part of the earth for three days and three nights, and Paul puts his stamp of approval on this teaching.
