What did Abraham say about Hades or hell in the Bible?

Abraham defines Hades, or hell, as a place with a great gulf fixed. On one side is torment, and on the other side is paradise. Before the cross, Old Testament believers went to paradise, while the lost went to the torment side, still understood as hell.

Les teaches that Hades, or hell, is defined by Abraham as a place with a great gulf fixed, with torment on one side and paradise on the other. Before the cross, all people from Adam lived and died, and Old Testament believers—except Enoch and Elijah—went down to paradise rather than heaven, because animal blood could not remove sin and Christ's atoning blood had not yet been applied. The lost of all ages, including today, still go down into hell, into the torment side. When Jesus told the thief, "Today thou shalt be with me in paradise," He was speaking of the centermost part of the earth, where He would be three days and three nights. Paul confirms this, and that is why Les is comfortable teaching it.
