Who decides where each believer is placed in the body of Christ?

God decides where each believer is placed in the body of Christ. Scripture says God has set the members, every one of them, in the body as it pleased Him. Every believer is therefore in the place God puts them, and their role and function are equally important within the body.

Les explains that Paul is illustrating the body of Christ with the physical body: the foot cannot claim it is not part of the body because it is not a hand, and the ear cannot claim it is not part of the body because it is not an eye. No one in the body of Christ can say they are at the top of the heap. Every member is equally important in role and function, whether visible or unseen. Then Paul says God has set the members, every one of them, in the body as it pleased Him. Every believer is in the place God puts them, and the proper response is to say, “Here I am, use me.” The body is comprised of all believers.

1 Corinthians 12:18

But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
