What did Origen say happened to God's promises to Israel and Abraham?
The Church Father concluded that God was completely through with the Jewish people, so the promises God had given to Israel and Abraham were abrogated and transferred to the Church. This conclusion followed the Temple's destruction and the Jews' scattering across the Roman Empire.
Les teaches that after Constantine embraced Christianity around A.D. 300–315, the Church exploded in numbers. The first Church Father mentioned—called 'Oregon' in the transcript—was at a seminary in Alexandria, Egypt. Seeing Christianity spreading and the Jewish Temple destroyed, with Jews uprooted and scattered like vagabonds or gypsies throughout the Roman Empire, he concluded God was all through with the Jew and would have nothing more to do with them. Thus all the promises God had given to the nation of Israel and to Abraham had been abrogated and given instead to the Church. Les adds that this destroys all end-time prophecy, because all prophecy is directed solely to the Jew.
