Why will people not hurt or destroy in the millennial Kingdom?
Scripture gives the reason in Isaiah 11:9: the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as waters cover the sea. With Christ ruling perfectly, the Kingdom will have no death, sickness, curse, or Satan, so there will be no hurting or destroying in His holy mountain.
Les explains that Isaiah 11:9 follows the earlier description of the millennial Kingdom. In that Kingdom there will be no death, no sickness, no curse, and no Satan, and Christ will be in total control. Because His rule and government are perfectly perfect, there will be no hurting or destroying. Les notes that in the Old Testament a mountain especially represents a Kingdom, so God's holy mountain means His Kingdom. The stated reason is that the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the water covers the sea.
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
