How do Old Testament types come to fulfillment in the New Testament?

Old Testament types are like seed sown that reaches fruition in the New Testament. The grain harvest, with ripened stems gathered into a sheaf and presented as a wave offering, pictures a spiritual harvest. Jesus’ words about fields white unto harvest refer to mankind being ready for that spiritual ingathering.

Les teaches that everything sown back in the Old Testament comes to its fruition in the New Testament. In the grain-field picture, scattered stems suddenly ripen while the rest of the crop is still days away. The Jew was to pluck those ripened stems until he had a multitude and could make a sheaf, then present it to the priest as a wave offering. Les explains that this is not just a grain harvest but a spiritual harvest. Jesus used the same analogy in His earthly ministry, saying to look out unto the fields because they are white unto harvest—not wheat or barley, but mankind ready for a spiritual harvesting. The gathering of ripening stems pictures individuals, nothing compared to the whole, yet enough to make a sheaf.
