Dogs, sorcerers, whoremongers, murderers, idolaters, and all who love and practice lying — along with the fearful, unbelieving, abominable, and all not written in the book of life — will have no part in the eternal state; their place is the lake of fire.
Revelation 22:14–15 sets the boundary of the eternal city: blessed are those who have right to the tree of life and may enter through the gates, but “without” are dogs, sorcerers, whoremongers, murderers, idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. Revelation 21:8 lists the same kind of people as having their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. Les Feldick calls this list God’s “reminder of who will not be in this eternal state with us,” and he stresses that Revelation 20:15 settles the matter — whoever is not found written in the book of life is cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation is explicit about who will not share in the eternal state. In Revelation 21:7, the overcomer is promised, “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” The very next verse names those who will not inherit: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death” (Revelation 21:8). The same contrast appears at the close of the book. Revelation 22:14 says, “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” Then verse 15 describes those outside those gates: “For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.” Revelation 19:20 and 20:10 show the beast, the false prophet, and the devil being cast into the lake of fire, and Revelation 20:14–15 concludes that death and hell are cast into the lake of fire, and “whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Les Feldick treats the lists in Revelation 21:8 as a deliberate “recap” from God — a reminder of who will not be in the eternal state with believers. He reads the verse plainly: the fearful, the unbelieving, the abominable, murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars “have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone,” which he identifies as the second death — the final separation from God (Clip 1). He also emphasizes the reality of the lake of fire as the eternal destination of the lost. The lost of all ages are resurrected at the Great White Throne and receive a body fit for their eternal residence, just as believers receive a body for eternal bliss (Clip 2). The beast and false prophet are cast in alive — “the first ones to inhabit the eternal doom of the wicked, the lake of fire” — before the Great White Throne judgment (Clip 3). After the millennium, the devil is cast in beside them, and Les points out that the beast and false prophet are “still there after a thousand years” — not annihilated, not destroyed (Clip 7). Les also explains the cause: people are in the lake of fire because of unbelief — they rejected the pardon offered at the cross. He says the lake of fire will involve “eternal regret” because salvation was offered to everyone, and nobody goes before the Great White Throne except by choice (Clips 4, 5). Finally, he reads Revelation 20:14–15 plainly: “I don’t care if they don’t like to preach it anymore, the book still says it” — death and hell are cast into the lake of fire, and everyone not written in the book of life is cast in as well (Clip 6).
Revelation 20:11–15 shows the great white throne judgment for the lost of all the ages. Les says the lost are resurrected there and “go to their eternal doom,” receiving “a body fit for their eternal residence, the lake of fire” (Clip 2). He also stresses that this is a judgment no one must attend except by choice: “Salvation has been offered to all people… But if they reject it, they’re going to end up at the great white throne” (Clip 5). The deciding factor is the book of life: “whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15; Clip 6).
Les is careful to say that the lost do not go to their eternal doom simply because of their sins. Instead, he teaches, “They’re going because of their unbelief. They’re rejecting the pardon.” He describes the lake of fire as involving “eternal regret that they’re there because they rejected their pardon” — they could have escaped it if they had simply believed (Clip 4). Since “he has reconciled the world to himself, not imputing their trespasses” (2 Corinthians 5:19), the issue is the rejection of that reconciliation, not the sins themselves.
Les points to Revelation 20:10 to show that the devil was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone “where the beast and the false prophet are.” He emphasizes the verb “are” — after a thousand years they are “still there. They haven’t been annihilated. They haven’t been destroyed.” The lake of fire “burneth forever and ever” (Clip 7). So the exclusion from the eternal state is permanent; these are not temporary residents.
