Jesus will return to the literal Mount of Olives on the east side of Jerusalem.
Zechariah 14:4 states that His feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east. Les Feldick connects this to Acts 1, where Jesus ascended from that same mountain and the angels promised He would return in like manner.

Les Feldick emphasizes that Zechariah 14:4 describes a literal, physical return to the same Mount of Olives from which Jesus ascended in Acts 1. He often says, "How did He leave? Head first. How is He going to return? Feet first." The angel's words, "this same Jesus... shall so come in like manner," mean the same Jesus returns to the same mountain. Les stresses that this is the Jerusalem mountain on the east side, not a heavenly counterpart. He also places the return in the battle context of Zechariah 14: all nations gather against Jerusalem, the city is taken, then the Lord goes forth to fight, and then His feet touch the Mount of Olives. At that moment the mountain splits, half moving north and half south, making way for the river and the Kingdom. In verse 9, the Lord becomes King over all the earth.
In Acts 1:11, the angels told the disciples that this same Jesus, taken up from them, will come in like manner. Les Feldick points out that Jesus ascended from the Mount of Olives and will return to that same mountain. He describes the ascent as head first and the return as feet first, because Zechariah says His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives. This is the literal, physical return.
Zechariah 14:2-3 describes the Lord gathering all nations against Jerusalem and the city being taken. Then the Lord goes forth and fights against those nations. Verse 4 places His feet on the Mount of Olives. Les Feldick explains that the mountain will cleave, half to the north and half to the south, so a river will flow through to the Dead Sea and the Dead Sea will come alive. All this happens on the physical earth.
The Second Coming Is Cataclysmic
