The New Jerusalem is the great city of God that comes down to the new earth and becomes the eternal home of those who reign with Christ.
Scripture calls it the holy city, prepared as a bride for her husband (Revelation 21:2). Les Feldick describes it as a literal 1,500-mile-long, wide, and high city that will rest on a vast new earth, with Jerusalem at its center. In that city, the throne of God is the source of the river of life, there is no night, and believers reign forever (Revelation 22:1, 22:5).

The Old Testament prophet Isaiah was told that the new heavens and the new earth which God will make will remain before Him forever, and so shall Israel's seed and name remain (Isaiah 66:22). In Revelation 21, John sees that new heaven and new earth, and then he sees the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband (Revelation 21:1–2). The city is foursquare: its length, breadth, and height are equal, measured at twelve thousand furlongs (Revelation 21:16). John also sees a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb, with the tree of life on either side of the river. And there is no night there, and no need of candle or sun, for the Lord God gives light; and believers shall reign for ever and ever (Revelation 22:1–5).
Les Feldick teaches that the New Jerusalem is a literal, massive city—1,500 miles long, wide, and high—so large that the new earth must be a tremendous planet to hold it and keep it in orbit (Clip1). He places this city on the new earth, with Jerusalem as the center of that new earth, and he identifies it as the abode of God's people (Clip2). Les emphasizes that the old heaven and earth will be dissolved and burned because of sin, and God will make a new heaven and a new earth (Clip0, Clip4). He also says Christ will rule and reign upon the earth from the city of Jerusalem, and that promised kingdom goes on into eternity (Clip3). The New Jerusalem will be the center of universal blessing: the river of water of life flows from the throne of God, the tree of life is there, and there is no night because the Lord God gives light (Clip2, Clip5). For the Body of Christ, Les says believers will be heavenly creatures, ruling with Christ across the new creation, unhindered by time and space, for all eternity (Clip7). The new earth will be huge enough for billions upon billions of inhabitants, with no ocean to limit habitable space (Clip6). And even in that eternal state, Israel will still hold its unique place as the apple of God's eye (Clip4).
Les Feldick says the New Jerusalem will be 1,500 miles long, 1,500 miles wide, and 1,500 miles high. He concludes that the new earth must be a tremendous planet to hold the city and keep it in orbit, so believers will never feel cramped in glory (Clip1). Scripture likewise says the city is foursquare, with its length, breadth, and height equal (Revelation 21:16).

Les says the present earth, and perhaps the solar system, must be dissolved and burned because it has been defiled by sin; then John sees a new heaven and a new earth (Clip0; Revelation 21:1). Les also connects Isaiah 66:22, which promises that the new heavens and new earth will remain before God forever, and Israel will remain with it (Clip4).
The Old Earth Passes Away
Les explains that the present earth must be dissolved and burned because of sin, setting the stage for the new heaven and new earth where the New Jerusalem will appear.
